About Us
Choosealocal is a UK sole trader business operated by Bogdan Tudorache ("Choosealocal", "we", "us"). We provide a local directory and platform connecting customers with local businesses, alongside tools for managing enquiries, bookings, and business activity.
Scope of Services
Choosealocal provides:
A postcode-based local business directory
Business listings and advertising services
Customer and business accounts
Tools for managing bookings and availability
We act solely as a platform provider and are not a party to contracts between customers and businesses.
Unclaimed Business Profiles
Choosealocal may create basic business profiles using limited publicly available information, including trade category, postcode, and contact details.
These profiles:
Are marked as unclaimed
May be incomplete and are not verified
Do not indicate affiliation, endorsement, or registration by the business
Unclaimed profiles:
Are not eligible to list services or receive customer enquiries
May have limited or no visibility within search results
Businesses may:
Claim and manage their profile
Request corrections
Request removal at any time
Directory Presence vs Active Listings
Directory Presence (Unclaimed or Basic):
Business exists on the platform with limited data
Cannot receive leads or fully participate
Active Listing — to become active, businesses must:
Claim their profile
Complete required profile information
Pass mandatory verification checks
Select services offered and provide pricing
Only Active Listings can appear fully in search and receive customer enquiries.
Account Registration
Users may create accounts to access platform features. You are responsible for maintaining login security and all activity under your account.
Service Tiers
Standard Tier:
Business listing
Gallery, smart calendar and booking management
Service area of up to 3 miles
Premium Tier:
Extended service coverage (up to 5 or 10 miles)
Extended service coverage is available only while the subscription is active.
Reverting to the Standard Tier returns the listing to a 3-mile service area.
Booking and Smart Calendar
Businesses may manage availability and track bookings
Customers may submit enquiries or booking requests
Choosealocal does not guarantee job allocation or completion
All agreements are made directly between customer and business
Verification and Eligibility
Businesses may be required to provide identity, insurance, and supporting documentation
Ongoing compliance may be required
Failure to meet requirements may result in restricted visibility, downgrade, or removal
No Commission Model
Businesses pay fixed fees for listings or advertising
Choosealocal does not take commission on work secured
Payments are handled directly between customers and businesses
Responsibilities – Businesses
Businesses agree to:
Provide accurate and up-to-date information
Maintain required insurance and qualifications
Deliver services with reasonable care and skill
Only list services once eligible
Responsibilities – Customers
Customers agree to:
Verify suitability of businesses before engagement
Understand Choosealocal is not responsible for service delivery
Content and Platform Use
Users retain ownership of content but grant Choosealocal rights to display and promote it. We may remove content that is misleading, unlawful, or inappropriate.
Rankings and Visibility
Visibility may depend on eligibility status, relevance, location, and subscription tier. We do not guarantee leads or outcomes.
Fees and Payment
Fees are agreed at purchase
Subscriptions may auto-renew unless cancelled
Non-payment may result in suspension, downgrade, or removal
Term and Cancellation
Services run for agreed terms and may auto-renew. Cancellation requires notice as defined at purchase.
Reviews and Feedback
Customer reviews may be enabled. We may moderate or remove inappropriate or false content.
Data Protection
We process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Platform Availability
We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
Liability
Choosealocal is not responsible for:
Work carried out by businesses
Disputes between users
Financial decisions based on platform tools
Liability is limited to fees paid in the previous 6 months.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Choosealocal against claims arising from your use of the platform, your business activities, or your content.
Changes to Services
We may update services, features, or pricing with reasonable notice.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
